We are so, so close to putting the house on the market. So now I'm thinking about the moving-to parts of the equation.
We're still strongly thinking Escondido. The home values are very good compared to the rest of San Diego. If we wanted to buy a fixer, we could theoretically maybe get something that costs *less* than what we might get for our house. (I am not sure we want to do that. We have burned a lot of time and energy fixing up *this* house for sale. But we'll see.)
The thing that's got me pondering is the question of historic homes.
Escondido's got a historic district. It is, of course, right in the most walkable part of town. There are also a couple of homes for sale there, and they are reasonably sized and on reasonable lots.
I am now debating whether or not a historic home is worth the hassle. It looks like the regulations are primarily about the home's exterior, but the main document about keeping the home historic has gone walkabout from the city's website (which of course has been recently redone, haven't they all ...).
It's not really something I *need* to worry about, but I'm just ... thinking. Hm.
