... our garb is not yet quite done (still need hitatare to go over the two kosode), but it was done enough that we went and shot arrows in it this morning.

Japanese garb is AWESOME.

Comfortable, functional, has multiple pockets, has sleeves that are easy to tie up once you know how, and is great for physical activity.

AWESOME.

Also, I feel a lot less awkward wandering around in public in Japanese garb than I ever did in any other garb.

Oh yeah, and did I mention that I get to make another set at some point in SILK?

Yeah. AWESOME.

Seriously, why didn't I even consider doing a Japanese persona while I was in college? (Rhetorical question. Because I didn't know anything about myself in college, really ... )

Sounds fantastic! If I ever get back into SCA, I would totally be redoing my persona (not that I had much of one to begin with).

That was pretty much my decision. I really didn't know what I wanted to do in the SCA when I was in it the first time, and just sort of picked something because it seemed easy.

I'm way happier now, because I found something I'm actively *interested* in recreating. (: I would totally encourage you to do it. And totally encourage you to bring the kids along for the ride -- I think they'd enjoy it too.

If I had the time, I would be more interested. Though, now that the kids are more self-sufficient, we might get more into it. Maybe. *sigh*

I understand. I'm choosing to make the time to do it, because I want to enlarge my circle of friends. (: And because it's fun. If you have other things that take priority, you have other things that take priority. That's how life works ...
