I totally hear you on that. That's a lot of time constraint, especially if the meetings are on weekdays. I am glad you're somewhere with more A&S, though.
It's certainly possible there's more A&S here than I'm seeing, but it's not in the archers, that's for sure. However, one of the archers is also head of the costumers' guild. I haven't been to one of those meetings yet. That one's kind of tricky since European costume doesn't really apply to me, but if they have sessions on fabric dyeing or painting I'll probably go.
I did go to a Cooks' Guild meeting (the first one since they revived the guild), and when the two heads of the Cooks' Guild claimed to prefer to do "medievalish" cooking to period recipes, I felt more than a little out of place. /: I have, however (as of about 15 minutes ago), proposed to the guild that we select a period source and redact/cook through it as a possible project. We'll see if it flies.
What are you planning to do for garb, by the way? I am curious. (:
