So I went to the doctor yesterday
Jun. 20th, 2012 07:24 am... because I've been complaining about my knees. It's not so much that they seriously hurt as that I'm constantly aware of them, and more aware of them (with small amounts of pain) going up and down stairs.
She says I have chondromalacia patella -- basically, the cartilage in my knees is slipping off track, which is causing the grinding sensation and the small amounts of pain. If I don't do anything, it'll get worse, and eventually start to break down.
If I stop doing anything that seriously stresses them (hockey, lots of stair-climbing, squats, running, jumping, DDR, things like that), and give them proper support, and stretch and strengthen, they should be fine in as little as two months. I expect it'll take longer -- it's a long-term kind of thing, and I've been playing hockey a long time.
So I'm on hockey hiatus again, not happy about it, and supposing I'll be doing lots of walking and some swimming. Yay. ): I'm not sure whether or not I can do fencing. I want to, but I don't know. /:
